News of 5th May 1998

The atmosphere between Bridgestone and Alain Prost isn't as good as it was before Imola: Since Imola Grand Prix, a young woman called Marie-Pierre Dupasquier is working for the PR-department of Team Prost. "Accidentally", she is the daughter of Pierre Dupasquier, who is working for the racing-department of Michelin-tyres... Bridgestone wrote, that they are not happy with this engagement for reasons of secrecy... Of course, there's now a rumour that Prost will drive with Michelin-tyres in the year 2000...

Other actual rumours: John Barnard could change from TWR/Arrows to Team Prost. Barnard and Alain Prost are quite good friends, worked together when Alain still drove for McLaren and Prost was always interested in Barnard. That's no secret. It's expected, that Barnard would become technical director as Bernard Dudot doesn't have much know-how regarding the chassis, as he was working for Renault before... Anyway, don't forget: that's only a rumour!

Want more Prost-rumours? Well, here are some more: If Barnard wouldn't come to Team Prost, it could also be Alan Jenkins, who is still working for Stewart at the moment. Alan Jenkins is another person Alain worked with during McLaren-days. Dr. Harvey Postlethwaite and Mike Gascoyne would be other possibilities as they are working for Tyrell right now, which is now sold to BAR...

Another rumour: Max Welti, who lost his job for Team Sauber could soon replace Cesare Fiorio at Team Prost! You know, that the relations between Alain Prost and Cesare Fiorio weren't the best in 1991, when Cesare Fiorio lost his job for Ferrari. Anyway, Alain once said, that this is over and that there is no problem. But Max Welti speaks many languages and is known to be a nice person with lot of experience. So, why not?
